Christmas Sweater
Joy, Peace and Fashion on Earth: The Christmas Sweater
The Christmas sweater has got a bad rap over the years. Seen by many as ugly and downright distasteful, Christmas sweaters are shunned by some people and there are even contests out there to find the ugliest holiday sweater in the world. But don't let any of that put you off! Christmas should be a time of joy and fun and color and one of the easiest ways to get into the spirit of the season is to put on a Christmas sweater.
There are all sorts of different sweaters that could be considered "Christmas sweaters." You could wear colors associated with the season such as red and green and blue and white. If you're more daring than that, you go with a simple pattern that reflects the holiday season, such as a small snowflake. Those who feel really brave can go for some of the larger and bolder Christmas patterns.
Wearing a Christmas sweater can make you feel unique. Really outrageous ones (particularly those with flashing lights) will make you stand out. If you're not feeling that bold, there are more demure patterns and colors that can make you feel festive without making you the center of attention.
Christmas sweaters are also part of many people's holiday traditions - both in terms of wearing and making them. For many people, a sweater featuring Rudolph or Santa Claus brings back warm childhood memories. Wearing a beloved sweater every Christmas can bring back tons of happy memories.
For other people, knitting holidays sweaters is a yearly tradition. There are many different designs that can be found in stores and online to knit that perfect Christmas sweater. Your family and friends will value the work you put into them, even if they can only wear them for a few weeks every year.
Christmas only comes once a year and so should your holiday themed sweater. As beautiful as your sweater might be, you should restrict your wearing of it to the weeks prior to Christmas. If it has a winter-theme versus a Christmas one, you can probably get away with wearing it throughout the winter, but if you're sporting a Rudolph design it should be packed away after Christmas for next year.
The next time you get ready to look down your nose at someone sporting a Rudolph Christmas sweater, remember the true spirit of the season and wish the wearer a Merry Christmas!
