The Long Sweater Coat Statement
Is it time for a new coat? Not so fast with that yes . . . you may be thinking of a conventional coat without considering the advantages of a long sweater coat. There is, you know, in most parts of the country more sweater weather than there is coat weather and you can find a long sweater coat that is as warm and cuddly as many of your lighter weight winter coats. Oops! Excuse my language, I shouldn't have just popped out the word "winter" so easily without warning you -- winter can be so . . . so cold and hateful while its being beautiful and refreshing. But that season (I won't say that word again . . . promise!) can also be mild and surprise you with days where you actually consider taking all those heavy coats and turning them into patchwork quilts. Well enough depressing talk about THAT season, lets put all thoughts of foul-weather gear aside and concentrate on sweaters.
Sweaters make a statement that the manufacturers of coats only wish they could make. Sweaters can be elegant, cool, cuddly, stylish or casual and come in such a mind-blowing variety of materials, styles, colors and lengths that they are an obvious asset for virtually every occasion and are therefore absolutely essential additions to your wardrobe.
Whether you go with a long sweater coat that reaches your ankles or go with thigh or hip length you'll make fashion headlines among your circle of friends and admirers.
Cashmere is always a popular choice in sweater coats! Cashmere sweater coats are available in a large variety of prices and styles. You can get a two ply cashmere for that finer, smoother look or a three-ply for a bulkier, more casual look. Cashmere can be a bit pricey so if the $100.00 plus range is more than you'd care to spend right now, look for a cashmere blend -- that's cashmere mixed with silk or wool it still gives you that luxurious cashmere look at a bit of a lower price.
Wool sweater coats are classic favorites. You can find a strong but still soft alpaca, a fine merino wool, a heavier Shetland wool or go with long-lasting mohair.
Of course cotton is always a great choice! Bright colors and patterns galore are standard fare, cotton is so easy to take care of and the bonus is that the cotton look is so easy to dress up or dress down.
So, when seasons are changing and you start contemplating your wardrobe, consider not buying a new coat when getting your hands on a new long sweater coat can be so easy, so inexpensive and so perfect as a fashion statement for the new season.
